Less than 5 Ingredients Buttermilk Pancakes

Waking up to the smell of country ham sizzling, freshly brewed coffee, and the scraping sound of my grandmother's wooden spoon stirring her famous buttermilk pancakes batter always made me spring out of bed. I remember always rushing to greet her and then taking over pouring lopsided circles into her buttered, hot cast iron skillet. "Insert quote"


This recipe is simple, easy to follow, and delicious (a great combination)! With only FOUR staple ingredients. I think what truly makes any dish special is the amount of love and care you put into it.



Buttermilk Pancakes Recipe

Serving Size: 2 people


Ingredients:
  • 1 and 1/4 cups of self rising flour

  • 3 tbsp shortening (2 tbsp if using oil)

  • 1 cup of buttermilk OR whole milk

  • 1 pinch of baking soda (omit this if whole regular milk)

Tips:
  • To make waffle batter instead, add one egg to the recipe

  • For added flavor, vanilla extract and cinnamon are two of my favorite additions to this recipe
